Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I received an e-mail asking for my login username and password. What is this?
A: If you ever receive this kind of message it is not from us. We will never ask you for your username or password. If you receive this kind of request please notify us promptly, so we can take further action and warn our users of this e-mail.
Q: Should I save my username and password in my browser?
A: If your browser ever offers to save your username and password for quicker login to the site, select no. The reason you don't want it to do this is because it would allow anyone using your browser to access your secure information and your setup parameters on the site. Consider your username and password private, and for your use only.
Q: I already have parental controls through my internet service provider. Why would I need Parental PC?
A: Most parental controls provided by internet service providers can be easily circumvented. Simply click on Microsoft Internet Explorer and you are outside the parental controls you thought you had. This internet browser comes with every version of MS Windows. Even if you have something that protects usage with Internet Explorer there are still other browsers that you can download that would bypass any restrictions.
Q: I would like to limit the amount of time my kids are playing games, can I do that?
A: Yes, with Parental PC you can not only limit the maximum amount of time your child can play on a daily basis, but you can also limit what hours of the day a child can play. If you only want your child to play games in the evening you can limit a game, or all games from 6pm till 9pm. You can limit game time to 1 hour maximum a day, and give them a 3 hours window to play in. You will now have the power to say when, and for how long.
Q: I have a large family and several computers in the house. Do I have to purchase Parental PC for each computer?
A: Parental PC supports up to five users and can be run on three different computers. If you do require controls for more than three PCs or more than five users you could simply purchase another copy and then link the two accounts together to function as one. For every additional account you purchase you can use Parental PC on three more PCs and you can set up five more users.
Q: What’s the best age for children to start using this program?
A: The sooner the better, so your child will grow accustomed to this environment. Our belief is that by starting at a younger age most kids will simply grow up and not know any different.
Q: Where is my personal information stored and who has access to it?
A: Your personal information is stored on secure servers. We enforce strict guidelines covering when and why someone may access any of your personal information. We believe the information to be private and the only times we would ever access any personal logs is to either meet with a request from law enforcement or if you request a backup of specific data. Please read our privacy policy for further information.
Q: How do you ensure that my data being transmitted is secure?
A: We employ custom encryption algorithms that are unique to each customer. All data being transmitted to and from your computer is encrypted using custom keys designed to identify you specifically.
Q: I read on your site that you monitor program usage. What does this mean?
A: We want to make sure that we are meeting our customers needs all the time. We monitor the types of applications people are using, not the time spent or what the applications are being used for. We are only interested in the types of programs you are running so that we may enhance our software to help you better control your computer by writing programs to monitor the software most widely used by our clients.
